Office Staff

Our office has several support staff members who work tirelessly to ensure that every one of the Firm’s clients receives the outstanding client service our Firm is known for. Several of our staff members are fluent in Spanish and Laotian; however, we are capable of assisting any client regardless of their native language.

If necessary, we are more than happy to assist you with your case at your home or in the hospital if you are not able to come to our office because of your injuries and/or lack of transportation. When you contact us, our friendly receptionist will gladly direct your calls and concerns to appropriate staff members. We also have several legal assistants making sure your case is getting the attention it deserves.

Office Manager: Tina Nickel
For seventeen years, Tina has devoted her time and energy to helping clients at the Busby Law Firm.  She is the office manager, but started as a receptionist, legal assistant, and paralegal. Tina earned a B.A. in Business Administration and Certification in Computer Programming from Point Loma Nazarene University. 

Tina’s unmatched energy and organization has contributed to helping thousand of client’s over the years have successful outcomes in their cases. She has extensive experience in all aspects of the office, and truly understands how to efficiently handle every type of personal injury case.

When Tina is not working, she enjoys attending sporting events for her children and volunteering with her church.

 
     
Attorney: Carree Nahama

Carree has focused her legal career on representing individuals involved in serious personal injury matters . She started with the Busby firm in 2005 as a legal intern, and was so impassioned by helping injury victims that she is now an integral part of the Busby litigation team. Carree has successfully advocated for plaintiffs in cases involving premises liability, products liability, motor vehicle collisions, construction site accidents, wrongful death, dog bites, bicycle/motorcycle accidents and slip and fall injuries. 

Throughout her career, Carree has resolved countless cases for injured victims, and thrives on seeing a case through, from the first client meeting to trial if necessary. She works closely with her clients to ensure that she understands the details of their case and concerns so she can efficiently and effectively meet a resolution in the case.

Carree earned her Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law. She graduated, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Riverside, and majored in English Literature.  As part of the University Honors Program, Carree presented to Sacramento law makers on first amendment issues and titled her honor’s thesis “Legislating Hip Hop: 2 Live Crew, the Courts, and the Construction of Commercial Hip Hop.”

Before working with the Busby firm, Carree received legal training and mentoring during an internship with The Honorable Thomas E. Hollenhorst, California State Court of Appeal, Fourth District, San Diego City Attorney’s office, and employment with other successful plaintiff, trial attorneys in San Diego. She also gained valuable experience during a Congressional Externship in Washington, D.C. where she drafted legislative memoranda used to argue political
positions to members of the United States House of Representatives.

 


Carree enjoys staying active, and, before having two baby girls, played indoor and outdoor soccer for local teams. She also enjoys spending time with friends/family, and finding treasures at local flea markets.

Carree is a proud member of State Bar of California, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and San Diego County Bar Association. 

     

Legal Assistant: Brenda Van Dam
Brenda starting working at the Busby firm in 2006. She is dedicated to the pursuit of justice, and has an unparralled compassion for all of her clients, and for people generally.

As a legal assistant, she spends the majority of her time speaking with clients' medical
providers, insurance companies, witnesses and the client's themselves to work out every detail in the case. Brenda's organizational skills is the key to getting successful results in cases.

In her free time, Brenda enjoys playing softball, cooking, party planning and spending time with her family.

 
     

Paralegal: Katharine Bullock
Katie is a 2008 graduate of San Diego State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Since graduating from San Diego State, Katie has gained a tremendous amount of experience working for trial attorneys specializing in personal injury automobile accidents, slip and falls, dog bites, medical mal-practice, wrongful death, employment disputes, products liability and premises liability.

Katie started working at Spencer S. Busby & Associates in 2010. In her current position as a Paralegal, Katie assists the attorneys in tasks throughout the litigation process varying from investigations, research, helping clients with the preparation of discovery and facilitates with the drafting of a wide range of legal documents. Katie is also an integral part of the Busby trial team, and has experience with assisting cases through trial as well as helping the attorneys present exhibits at trial.

 


 

Legal Assistant: Alejandra Duarte
Alejandra joined the Busby Law Firm one year ago as a receptionist and legal assistant. She came to the firm with a strong background in sales, customer service and retail experience. Alejandra has dedicated her professional career to helping to advance the needs of people in her community. She also earned her Associates Degree from Southwestern College in Social Work and takes night courses at SDSU.  Alejandra is bilingual in English and Spanish.

When Alejandra is not working or attending class, she enjoys spending time with her family and children, exercising, dancing and reading. Alejandra is also a trained singer and trumpet player and has performed in local Mariachi groups.  

 

 

 

 

 

     

Receptionist: Samantha Creager
Samantha began working for the Busby Law Firm four years ago as a receptionist, file clerk and legal assistant. Before her career in the legal field, Samantha worked in customer service.  Samantha enjoys helping people, and takes personal pride in having up to date information on all case files. She is likely the first kind and knowledgeable voice you will hear when you contact our office.

When Samantha is not at the office she enjoys walking her pit bull/bulldog mix, eating at new places in San Diego and spending time with her family.
